Republic of Moldova news: RFI programming resumes and EU support continues

RFI România has resumed its dedicated programming for the Republic of Moldova, introducing a new format with updated voices and segments to address the current geopolitical landscape.

In related developments, the European Union’s 1.9 billion euro Growth Plan for Moldova, announced last year, remains a significant pillar of financial support through 2027. Moldova has also engaged with the EU through the ‘Foundations’ cluster, which focuses on justice, fundamental rights, security, public procurement, and democratic institutional reform.

Diplomatic tensions have surfaced as Moldovan authorities summoned the unaccredited Russian Ambassador, Oleg Ozerov, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Chișinău. The summons follows Moscow's decision to open polling stations for Russian parliamentary elections within the separatist region of Transnistria.
