Republic of Srpska to begin influenza vaccination in November

The Institute for Public Health of the Republic of Srpska has announced that influenza vaccinations will commence in November. This timing is due to a transition from quadrivalent to trivalent vaccines.

The Institute has ordered 18,000 doses for populations eligible for free vaccination, along with an additional 2,500 doses for citizens who wish to pay for the vaccine themselves. Immunization will take place at the Institute’s immunization clinic in Banja Luka and at various regional centers.

Free vaccination is available to specific high-risk groups, including patients on hemodialysis, kidney transplant recipients, insulin-dependent diabetics, and individuals with certain cardiovascular conditions such as those with stents or pacemakers. Other eligible groups include people living with HIV/AIDS, children with cystic fibrosis or rheumatic fever with heart changes, healthcare workers in intensive care or infectious disease units, and individuals with muscular dystrophy or multiple sclerosis.
