Republic of the Congo delegation visits Danube River authorities

A delegation from the Ministry of Fisheries, River Economy and Waterways of the Republic of the Congo visited the Executive Agency for Research and Maintenance of the Danube River in Bulgaria. The visit focused on exchanging expertise regarding the maintenance of the Danube shipping route, hydrographic measurements, navigational marking, and ensuring safe navigation conditions. Congolese officials expressed interest in developing their own river transport, port infrastructure, and dredging activities, noting that the Congo River has significant needs in these areas.

Separately, the water levels of the Danube River continue to decline across the Bulgarian section. The Executive Agency reported decreases of between 1 and 6 centimeters over the last 24 hours at various monitoring stations. Significant drops were recorded in Ruse, Silistra, and Oryahovo. While no new vessels have been reported grounded in or out of the shipping lane, navigation restrictions remain in effect for the entire Bulgarian stretch of the river due to the complex hydrological situation.
