Republic of the Congo lists $1.55bn in bonds on Nasdaq Dubai

The Republic of the Congo has become the first African nation to list sovereign bonds on Nasdaq Dubai. The listing involves two issuances totaling $1.55 billion, specifically $700 million in amortizing notes due in 2035 and $850 million due in 2036.

This move serves as a secondary listing to complement the country’s existing bonds on the London Stock Exchange. According to the Ministry of Finance, the dual listing does not create new debt but aims to increase liquidity by allowing a broader range of Middle Eastern and global institutional investors to trade the securities.

The operation is part of a broader financial strategy initiated in 2025 to replace short-term debt with longer-term loans and restore investor confidence. The listing also strengthens economic ties between the Republic of the Congo and the United Arab Emirates, supported by a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
