Republic of the Congo lists sovereign debt on Nasdaq Dubai
The Republic of the Congo has become the first African nation to list sovereign bonds on Nasdaq Dubai. On October 19, 2026, Finance Minister Christian Yoka participated in the market opening ceremony to mark the secondary listing of two sovereign bonds totaling $1.55 billion.
The bonds, which were previously listed on the London Stock Exchange, consist of a $700 million bond maturing February 17, 2035, and an $850 million bond maturing May 26, 2036. Both carry a 9.500% coupon.
This move aims to diversify the country's investor base by attracting institutional investors, banks, and corporations from the Middle East. The listing follows a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the Congo and the United Arab Emirates, intended to deepen financial cooperation between the two nations.
