Republican midterm convention speakers make false claims

Fact-checks of the Republican midterm convention have identified several false or misleading claims made by speakers during the first two nights of the event.

During the second night, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. claimed that Democrats cancelled their convention and that no elected delegates were consulted regarding Kamala Harris's nomination. However, the Democratic convention was held in Chicago in August 2024, and delegates officially nominated Harris via a virtual roll call. Kennedy also claimed that Donald Trump ended nine wars, exceeding Trump's own previous claim of ending eight wars.

On the first night, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise stated that Democrats recently voted to allow undocumented immigrants to vote in federal elections. This was inaccurate; Scalise was referring to a non-binding Republican resolution that included statements regarding election integrity, but no law was changed to allow non-citizens to vote. Additionally, some speakers were noted for taking Democratic candidates' comments out of context, such as mischaracterizing a joke made by Maine candidate Troy Jackson regarding communism.
