CHP marks 103rd anniversary amid internal political tensions

The Republican People's Party (CHP) marked its 103rd anniversary with official ceremonies at Anıtkabir and a reception at the party headquarters. During the Anıtkabir program, party leaders and representatives from 81 provinces gathered to honor Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu signed the Anıtkabir Special Register, emphasizing the party's commitment to Republican values.

The anniversary events highlighted internal political tensions. CHP Group President Faik Öztrak expressed deep disappointment regarding the absence of Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş from the Anıtkabir ceremony. Additionally, Öztrak criticized comments made by journalist Mustafa Balbay regarding the potential closure of the CHP.

The anniversary reception at the party headquarters saw lower attendance compared to the morning ceremonies. Several prominent mayors, including Vahap Seçer and Zeydan Karalar, did not attend. The event featured participation from figures such as Muharrem İnce and Gürsel Erol, while the atmosphere was noted for its subdued nature. Meanwhile, recent polling regarding Mansur Yavaş's political future suggests varying public opinions on whether he should remain in the CHP, join a new party, or run independently.
