Republican Turkish Party leader clarifies election stance

Asım Akansoy, Deputy Group Leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), has addressed claims that he intended to withdraw from seeking a single-party majority. Akansoy clarified that his recent comments regarding the difficulty of achieving a single-party majority under the current electoral system were being misrepresented by certain media outlets through selective quoting.

He emphasized that the decision regarding future leadership and political direction will be determined by the Turkish Cypriot people rather than external influences. Akansoy also noted that during times of national crisis and loss of life, political discourse should prioritize human life over election campaigning and political calculations.
