Republicanos party holds conventions across Brazil as Senate candidacy decision looms

The Republicanos of Brazil scheduled its state party convention for 1 August in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul, where the party will present its election plan, draw ballot numbers for federal and state deputies and finalize candidate listings for the October vote.

A separate Republican convention was convened on 25 July at the Minas Gerais Legislative Assembly. Senator "Cleitinho" is expected to announce whether he will run for governor, a decision that could reshape alliances involving Marcelo Aro, Mateus Simões, Union Brasil, PP, PL and other right‑wing groups.

Both events are part of the broader pre‑election process that began on 20 July, with parties formalising candidacies, alliances and campaign strategies ahead of the national elections.
