Republicans face bleak Senate odds as midterm elections approach

Former Trump White House strategist Steve Bannon warned on his "War Room" podcast that the Republican Party is set to lose the U.S. Senate in the November 2026 midterms. He cited weak poll numbers in Maine, North Carolina and Ohio and criticised GOP donors for spending heavily on campaigns such as Sen. John Cornyn’s (R‑TX) race, saying the party has lost touch with working‑class voters.

Meanwhile, political analyst Dr. Robert Speel and commentator John Ellis said President Donald Trump is running out of time to revive GOP support. A recent loss by a Trump‑endorsed candidate in Iowa highlighted internal divisions, and polling shows a portion of the Republican base may abstain from voting. Speel warned that a Democratic House majority could prompt a third impeachment attempt against Trump. Both Bannon’s and Trump’s narratives point to a challenging electoral environment for Republicans ahead of the midterms.
