Republicans hold midterm convention as Trump sets timeline for Iran conflict

The Republican Party concluded its first-ever national convention dedicated to the 2026 midterm elections in Dallas, Texas. During the event, Vice President JD Vance delivered a keynote speech focusing on national security, family welfare, and American pride, while criticizing Democratic opponents for what he described as radical socialist tendencies. President Donald Trump closed the convention with a pledge to secure victory in the upcoming November elections.

Addressing the ongoing conflict with Iran, President Trump stated that military hostilities would end “immediately” following the conclusion of the U.S. midterm elections. He claimed that Iran is unable to sustain the conflict and suggested the nation is attempting to influence the election to install a weaker administration. While Trump noted that diplomatic negotiations remain a possibility, he emphasized that they are not currently a priority for the administration.
