Republicans trail in eight battleground Senate races
A RealClearPolitics polling aggregate indicates that Republicans are trailing in eight major battleground Senate races approximately two months before Election Day. The data suggests a challenging landscape for the GOP, even in traditionally Republican states such as Texas and Ohio.
According to the aggregate, Republicans face deficits in Alaska (2 points), Georgia (7.5 points), Maine (2.3 points), Michigan (1.8 points), Ohio (2.6 points), New Hampshire (2 points), North Carolina (8 points), and Texas (1.9 points). Most of these races, with the exception of Georgia and North Carolina, fall within the typical margin of error.
A notable exception is Iowa, where Representative Ashley Hinson holds a 1.4 percentage-point lead over Josh Turek, though the state is noted as being more competitive than in previous cycles. Currently, Democrats are contesting three battleground seats while Republicans hold the other six.
