Republika Srpska and Serbia face questions over financial transparency
The Ministry of Finance of Republika Srpska has declined to disclose the identities of nine American investment funds that purchased €250 million in bonds on the London Stock Exchange. Despite a 90-day confidentiality period expiring, Minister Zora Vidović has not released the names of the creditors, leading to questions regarding the transparency of the debt, which totals approximately 489 million KM.
In a separate matter, an analysis of the Serbian government's budget reserves for 2026 shows that over €122 million has been distributed through more than 130 decisions. The funds have been allocated to various entities, including the Serbian Orthodox Church, sports federations, and large projects like EXPO 2027. Some allocations, such as €10 million for highway construction in Republika Srpska, were directed toward neighboring territories, while many decisions lack specific details regarding the exact amounts or intended purposes for certain recipients.
