Republika Srpska begins payment of increased veteran benefits
Republika Srpska has commenced the payment of monthly combatant allowances and social benefits under a new law governing the rights of veterans, military invalids, and families of the Defense and Patriotic War. The Ministry of Finance announced that 51 million KM has been allocated for these purposes, representing an increase of 7.2 million KM compared to the period before the legislative changes.
Key provisions of the new law include an increased base rate for each month spent in combat zones, rising from 4 KM to 5 KM. Additionally, new financial compensations have been introduced for veterans over the age of 65 who do not receive other income, as well as for those who were held in captivity. The law also enables the recognition of status for veterans of the Republic of Serbian Krajina.
Beyond veteran benefits, the payments include social welfare, care and assistance allowances, and increased benefits for unemployed parents in families with four or more children. The government has also increased allowances for families with four or more children from 750 KM to 800 KM for those qualifying through the unemployment of one parent.
