Republika Srpska Chamber of Commerce prepares for difficult electricity price talks
Goran Račić, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska, has announced that upcoming negotiations regarding electricity prices for the business sector in 2027 are expected to be difficult. Račić stated that Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS) is likely to demand maximum price increases, while the Chamber of Commerce aims to minimize any potential hikes.
The Chamber is currently gathering data from its members regarding electricity costs and their impact on overall business expenses. Račić contested previous claims by ERS representatives that energy costs are negligible within business structures, noting that field data shows these costs are significant for local enterprises.
Beyond direct pricing, Račić highlighted concerns regarding the quality of the distribution network. Frequent power outages and equipment failures are reportedly causing high indirect costs, including damage to production machinery and increased waste, for which businesses have no guarantee of compensation from ERS.
