Republika Srpska official criticizes Nešković over heritage protection votes

Anđelina Ošap Gaćanović, a member of the Commission to Preserve National Monuments from Republika Srpska, has criticized Željimir Nešković for his political stance regarding the protection of Serbian cultural heritage.

Responding to Nešković’s concerns about the veto power used by Željka Cvijanović, the Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ošap Gaćanović argued that Nešković lacks the credibility to criticize such actions. She noted that Nešković abstained from voting during the consideration of a parliamentary report that identified irregularities within the Commission to Preserve National Monuments.

Ošap Gaćanović urged Nešković and other representatives of Republika Srpska to vote in favor of protecting the entity's interests rather than remaining abstinent. She stated that the political struggle should focus on preventing the Commission from being transformed from a Dayton-established institution into a political instrument of Sarajevo, aiming to protect the Serbian national identity and heritage.
