Republika Srpska President defends Dayton Agreement structure

Siniša Karan, President of Republika Srpska, stated that the entity is the sole defender of the Dayton Agreement in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He argued that representing Republika Srpska as a problem for the country is a misconception.

Karan emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina must accept its nature as a complex state composed of two entities and three equal peoples, rather than attempting to become a unitary or single-national state. He identified the efforts of political Sarajevo and parts of the international community to diminish this complexity as the primary source of political crises.

He advocated for parity, consensus, and the division of competencies as the fundamental principles for a functional federal state. Karan noted that the future administration is committed to maintaining institutional capacity, political stability, and economic strengthening within the framework of the Dayton Agreement.
