Republika Srpska to establish central workplace injury register
Republika Srpska is set to implement a central web-based register to track workplace injuries and occupational diseases. The system will be hosted within the Institute for Occupational Medicine and Sports of Republika Srpska and is expected to be operational by the first quarter of next year.
The initiative aims to increase transparency and prevent the concealment of workplace incidents, which has been a recurring issue in certain sectors. By requiring employers to report every injury immediately, the register will allow authorities to analyze risks, identify high-risk sectors, and implement preventive measures.
The Ministry of Labor and Veterans' Protection has been tasked with amending the Law on Occupational Safety to facilitate this system. The Confederation of Trade Unions of Republika Srpska has supported the move, noting that a centralized database is essential for improving worker protection and addressing the history of serious and fatal workplace accidents.
