Republika Srpska to deploy 90 advanced stationary radars
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska has launched a procurement process for 90 new stationary radar systems. Unlike traditional speed cameras, these advanced devices will be capable of detecting multiple traffic violations, including running red lights, failure to wear seatbelts, and the use of mobile phones while driving.
Placement of the new radars will be determined through traffic safety analyses and requests from citizens and local communities. Priority will be given to locations near schools, kindergartens, public institutions, and areas near the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The ministry noted that previous investments in 100 stationary radars in 2020 have had a preventive effect, increasing road safety and resulting in no fatal accidents on the sections where they were deployed.
