Republika Srpska uses Trump allies for U.S. lobbying
Authorities in Republika Srpska have reportedly spent tens of millions of marks on lobbying efforts in the United States to promote political and energy-related interests. According to reports and filings in the U.S. Foreign Agents Register, recent lobbying invoices for the government of Republika Srpska and Milorad Dodik totaled $4.2 million in recent months.
Investigations, including reporting by The New York Times, highlight a network of individuals close to Donald Trump who have been engaged in lobbying for the entity. These include former and current political advisors. Notably, the lobbying firm Continental Strategy has been involved, with connections to Katie Wiles, the daughter of White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
Efforts have focused on securing support for energy projects, such as potential gas pipeline construction, and seeking political favor from the U.S. administration. These activities include high-level visits and the presentation of various infrastructure projects to U.S. officials to bolster the entity's negotiating position.
