Rescued dog Simón gains attention during prayer in Colombia

Simón, a rescued mixed-breed dog, gained social media attention after an unexpected interaction during a prayer service at the Santo Domingo Savio parish in Villavicencio, Colombia.

During an intercessory prayer led by Father Carlos Mario Peña Lopera, Simón, who was sitting on a chair beside a parishioner, extended his paw toward the priest. Father Peña Lopera responded by holding the dog's paw while continuing the ceremony.

Simón is a former street dog who was rescued by Father Peña Lopera along with another dog named Luna. The two animals have lived at the parish for over six years and are considered integral members of the local religious community.
