Rescued spider monkey shows signs of recovery at Morelia Zoo

A rescued spider monkey at the Morelia Zoo in Michoacán is showing signs of progress three weeks after being brought to the facility. The animal was recovered in Pajacuarán during an operation led by the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection and state authorities.

While the monkey remains in critical condition and is not yet out of danger, medical specialists report that the animal has begun to eat on its own, though it is still consuming smaller quantities than required for full recovery. The care plan includes dental assessments, nutritional monitoring, and behavioral observation to reduce stress and aid mental well-being. The monkey has also begun spending time in the sun, which specialists view as a positive sign of adaptation to its new environment.
