Research links chronic inflammation and glucose levels to heart and metabolic health

Recent scientific research has highlighted the significant impact of chronic inflammation and high glucose levels on organ health. Using data from the UK Biobank involving 488,075 individuals, researchers found that elevated levels of the GlycA biomarker—an indicator of systemic inflammation—are linked to structural changes in the heart. These changes include reduced chamber volumes, increased left ventricular wall thickness, and impaired blood filling, which collectively increase the risk of serious cardiovascular events by 43 percent.

Separately, studies have examined the relationship between glucose regulation and mineral supplementation. Research published by the National Library of Medicine suggests that deficiencies in magnesium and chromium may contribute to impaired glucose tolerance and insulin resistance. Findings indicate that simultaneous supplementation of both minerals may help improve metabolic profiles, reduce oxidative stress, and manage inflammation associated with hyperglycemia.
