Research shows growing resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii
A recent study found that hospital‑acquired Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains have acquired genetic mutations that render a last‑line antibiotic ineffective, raising concerns about treatment options for severe infections.
An international genome analysis of Acinetobacter baumannii examined more than 23,000 sequences from public databases. The bacterium was detected in over 95 different sources—including humans, a wide range of animals, plants, water and food—across 106 countries, confirming its status as a global “super‑bacterium” and a critical priority for the World Health Organization.
