Research studies examine metallurgical processing in Peru and cognitive stimulation in Ecuador
In Peru, a metallurgical study conducted at Compañía Minera Cerro SAC in Pasco investigated the treatment of polymetallic ore using foam flotation. The research focused on overcoming challenges posed by gangue materials such as pyrite, quartz, antimony, arsenic, and clays. Through laboratory testing, researchers determined optimal reagent dosages and grinding processes, achieving recovery rates of 79.08% for copper, 84.61% for lead, 66.99% for silver, and 86.86% for zinc.
In Ecuador, a study at the University of Azuay evaluated the impact of a 32-session non-pharmacological cognitive stimulation program on older adults with mild cognitive impairment in Cuenca. The quasi-experimental study, involving 14 participants, utilized various neuropsychological assessments. Results indicated statistically significant improvements in global cognitive functioning, specifically in memory and executive functions, alongside a notable reduction in anxiety symptoms.
