Cornell University study challenges water consumption nutrition myths

New research from Cornell University is challenging common nutritional beliefs regarding water consumption and spicy foods. Studies published in the journals Appetite and Food Quality and Preference suggest that drinking large amounts of water during meals may actually be linked to higher calorie intake, rather than promoting satiety as often claimed.

Conversely, the research indicates that adding spicy seasonings to food may help with weight management by slowing down eating speed and encouraging lower energy intake. Researchers noted that table behaviors and food properties significantly influence consumption amounts, often without the individual noticing.
