Reserve Bank of India appoints Sudhakar Malli as Executive Director

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has appointed Sudhakar Malli as its new Executive Director, effective October 1, 2026. Malli will lead the Department of Supervision (Supervisory Assessment), a critical division responsible for monitoring banks and other financial institutions.

A career central banker with nearly three decades of experience, Malli previously served as the Chief General Manager-in-Charge of the Department of Supervision. His expertise includes over 20 years of oversight involving banks, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), and cooperative banks, as well as five years of international supervisory experience and work in currency management.

This appointment follows recent leadership changes at the central bank, including the recent appointments of Suman Re and Monisha Chakraborty to Executive Director roles.
