Reservoir levels fluctuate at Yacyretá and La Paloma

The Yacyretá Binational Entity reported a decrease in the reservoir level to 82.82 meters above sea level as of September 10, 2026. The daily influent flow is forecasted at 13,400 m3/s, with an expected increase to approximately 14,500 m3/s for the following day. Operational adjustments include the closure of the main arm spillways and specific discharge through the Aña Cuá arm.

In Chile, the La Paloma Reservoir is expected to reach 50% of its storage capacity by September 11, 2026. The Comunidad de Aguas Sistema Embalse La Paloma (CASEP) is currently working to restore the Matriz Paloma Canal, a critical infrastructure for agricultural water distribution. While emergency water turns for users are projected to begin the week of September 21, these will initially operate with restricted flows due to the ongoing partial rehabilitation of the canal.
