Reservoir levels show varying trends in Paraguay and Chile

Operational reports indicate varying hydrological conditions for major reservoirs in Paraguay and Chile. In Paraguay, the Yacyretá Binational Entity reported an ascending trend in reservoir levels, reaching 82.86 meters above sea level as of August 13, 2026. The daily inflow is forecasted at approximately 13,200 m3/s, with a slight decrease expected the following day. The Aña Cuá spillway is currently discharging 1,000 m3/s.

In Chile, projections for the Puclaro Reservoir suggest a positive outlook for the Elqui Valley's water availability. As of August 14, 2026, the reservoir held 53.2 hm³, or 26.6% of its operational capacity. Analysts project the volume could reach 200 hm³ around mid-December, depending on snowmelt and precipitation. If these trends hold, the projected volume for the 2026-2027 period would rank as the third largest in the last 38 years.
