Resialentejo expands bio-waste processing and organic fertilizer production in Beja
Resialentejo has launched a promotional campaign for CompostoAlentejo, an organic soil conditioner produced at the Montinho Environmental Park in Beja. The product is created through a controlled composting process using approximately 95% urban organic waste from the region and up to 5% green garden waste. The fertilizer is designed to improve soil physical, chemical, and biological properties, enhancing water retention and reducing the need for chemical fertilizers. It is particularly suitable for orchards, olive groves, vineyards, and forestry species.
To support these operations, Resialentejo has opened a public tender for a new €4.98 million Bio-waste Treatment Plant at the same site in Santa Clara de Louredo. The project, which has an estimated execution period of 365 days, includes the construction of a composting unit, a screening unit for mechanical separation, and a compost refining unit. This infrastructure is part of a larger €10.6 million strategic investment aimed at increasing the efficiency of bio-waste processing, improving compost quality, and reducing landfill deposition.
