Resident Evil 4 remake becomes best‑selling title of current console generation

Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 remake has sold a total of 16.8 million copies across PlayStation, Steam and Xbox since its March 2023 release, generating roughly US$560 million in revenue. About half of the units were sold on PlayStation, with Steam accounting for around 43 % of copies. In 2026 alone the game added nearly four million more sales, showing enduring demand.

The strong performance places the game at the top of a recent ranking of remakes and remasters, ahead of titles such as Ark: Survival Ascended (7 million copies), The Last of Us Part I (6.3 million) and Silent Hill 2 (3.2 million). Industry analysts note that the success highlights the growing market for high‑quality remakes of classic video‑game franchises.
