Resident Evil film franchise analyzed

The Resident Evil film franchise, starring Milla Jovovich as Alice, has evolved significantly from its origins in the Capcom video game series. While the films often deviate from the established game lore and settings, they have maintained a distinct identity within the survival horror genre.

Critics and fans have noted that the early films, particularly the 2002 original, transitioned the franchise toward a high-octane, action-heavy style. This shift differs from the original games' focus on survival horror and restrictive controls, but it has contributed to the series' status as an iconic, if sometimes cheesy, example of video game cinema. Interest in the franchise remains high as new adaptations are anticipated for 2026.
