Resident Evil film franchise sets new worldwide box-office record

The Resident Evil film franchise has reached a new worldwide box-office milestone. Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil has earned approximately $323 million globally, surpassing the previous franchise record held by Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, which earned $314.1 million.

Concurrent with the film’s theatrical release, data from the Hungarian price comparison site Árukereső indicated price fluctuations for the video game series. Physical console editions of recent Capcom remakes saw price increases; for example, the PlayStation 5 edition of Resident Evil 2 rose by 27%. In contrast, older titles remained at their previous price points, and PC activation keys for several titles saw price decreases of 12% to 27%, suggesting broader promotional activity.
