Resident Evil franchise expands from survival horror games to comic books
The Resident Evil franchise, developed by Capcom, has expanded from its roots in survival horror gaming into various other media, including films, novels, and comic books.
The original Resident Evil 2 for the PlayStation featured two distinct scenarios involving characters Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield. Set in the zombie-infested Raccoon City following the T-virus outbreak, the gameplay focuses on the characters' attempts to uncover the cause of the infection and escape the city.
In the comic medium, WildStorm published Resident Evil: The Official Comic Magazine from 1998 to 1999. Most of these stories were compiled into the graphic novel Resident Evil: Collection One. This collection includes eleven stories covering the Spencer Mansion incident, the Raccoon City outbreak, and various side stories involving S.T.A.R.S. members and Umbrella Corporation personnel.
