Resident Evil horror reboot earns nearly Rs 15 crore in India

The Hollywood horror reboot Resident Evil has demonstrated resilience at the Indian box office, earning approximately Rs 14.95 crore gross within its first five days. After a dip on Monday, the film saw a 20 percent increase in collections on Tuesday, reaching Rs 2 crore for the day.

The film's five-day breakdown includes Rs 0.50 crore from previews, Rs 2.60 crore on its opening day, and Rs 4.10 crore each on Saturday and Sunday. Industry projections suggest the film could close its opening week with a gross total between Rs 17 crore and Rs 18 crore.

Directed by Zach Cregger and starring Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, and Kali Reis, the film follows a medical courier named Bryan attempting to deliver cargo to Raccoon City General Hospital during a viral outbreak. This release marks the second reboot attempt for the long-running franchise.
