Resident Evil franchise expands with new manga, rumored remakes, and film details

The Resident Evil franchise is expanding through new media and rumored game developments. Titan Comics has announced the release of a manga adaptation titled ‘Resident Evil: Death Island – Volume 1’ on September 29, 2026. Created by manga artist Zino in collaboration with Capcom and Death Island Film Partners, the manga is based on the 2023 CG animated film and features series protagonists such as Leon S. Kennedy, Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Claire Redfield, and Rebecca Chambers.

In terms of upcoming video game content, leaks suggest Capcom is working on remakes for ‘Resident Evil Code: Veronica’ and ‘Resident Evil Zero’. Reported voice actor details include Stephanie Panisello potentially returning as Claire Redfield, Jeff Schine as Chris Redfield, and Craig Burnatowski as Albert Wesker. Other rumored cast members include Matthew Castle as Steve Burnside and Hallea Jones as Rebecca Chambers.

Additionally, a new Resident Evil film directed by Zach Cregger is in development. Early footage has sparked speculation regarding the series' timeline, specifically whether the film will introduce elements like the Las Plagas parasite into the Raccoon City setting, which would deviate from established game lore.
