Resident Evil Requiem sales highlight PlayStation dominance over Xbox
Capcom’s latest title, ‘Resident Evil Requiem’, has surpassed $500 million in total revenue, selling 8.5 million copies across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series platforms. However, sales data from Alinea Analytics highlights a significant disparity between consoles: Xbox Series accounts for only 8.6% of total sales (approximately 731,000 copies), while PlayStation 5 holds 48.1% (approximately 4.01 million copies) and Steam accounts for 43.4% (approximately 3.69 million copies).
The success of the Resident Evil franchise is being further bolstered by the live-action film ‘Resident Evil: Outbreak Night’, directed by Zach Cregger. Following the film's release, sales for ‘Resident Evil 2 Remake’ and ‘Resident Evil 4 Remake’ saw substantial increases on the PS5 platform, with revenue surging by 80% and 84% respectively. Daily active player counts for several titles in the series, including ‘Resident Evil 3 Remake’ and ‘Resident Evil Requiem’, have also trended upward.
