Residential fires and explosions reported in Genzano and Cittiglio
Two separate incidents involving fires and explosions have occurred in Italian residential areas.
In Genzano di Roma, a high-capacity motorcycle caught fire inside an apartment building on via Cadore. The blaze caused significant smoke damage to the entrance and upper floors, leading to the evacuation of approximately 25 residents from seven families. One young woman was treated at Ospedale dei Castelli for smoke inhalation, though her condition is reported as non-serious. Local authorities, including the Mayor and Firefighters, attended the scene. Investigators are looking into the cause, noting the motorcycle had been stationary for several days.
In Cittiglio, an explosion and subsequent fire destroyed a two-story independent house near the intersection of via Valcuvia and via Torino. The incident occurred around 5:00 AM on Tuesday. While the blast caused severe structural damage, including damage to floors and fixtures, no injuries were reported as the owner was not home at the time. The building has been declared uninhabitable, and firefighters are investigating the origin of the explosion.
