Residential Fires in Brazil Destroy Homes but Cause No Fatalities

A fire on Saturday night in the Vila dos Pescadores neighborhood of Cubatão, São Paulo, destroyed two wooden houses covering about 40 m². The local fire brigade contained the blaze before it spread, and two residents who felt ill were treated for unrelated medical issues. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

On Sunday morning a separate blaze broke out in a house in Barra dos Coqueiros, Sergipe. Firefighters from the state’s military fire corps used roughly 500 liters of water to extinguish the fire, which was confined to the living room and a bedroom. No injuries were reported, but the roof suffered structural damage and the occupants were left shaken.

Both incidents were quickly contained, resulting in property loss but no loss of life.
