Residential fires in Brazil kill one and devastate homes

A house fire in Osório, Rio Grande do Sul early Sunday (28) resulted in a fatality. Emergency crews from the Military Fire Brigade and the Military Police responded before 5 a.m., locating a charred body. The victim’s identity and the cause of the blaze remain under investigation.

In the rural community of Porteirinha, Minas Gerais, a separate fire consumed roughly 75 % of a home, destroying most furniture, appliances and personal documents. No one was injured. Authorities suspect a short‑circuit in the house’s electrical system, but the exact cause is still being examined.
