Residential fires in Ciamis and Bondowoso caused by stove embers
Two separate residential fires in Indonesia, occurring in Ciamis and Bondowoso, were reportedly caused by leftover embers from cooking stoves.
In Ratawangi, Ciamis, a 70-year-old man's home was destroyed on Tuesday evening while he was away at a mosque. Local officials suspect that embers remaining in a stove used for boiling water ignited the building. The fire caused approximately Rp30 million in damages, though no casualties were reported. The resident has been relocated to his child's home.
In Grujugan, Bondowoso, a fire broke out on Thursday morning, affecting two houses in Desa Dadapan. Authorities believe embers from a stove ignited a pile of wood, causing the flames to spread to the kitchens and adjacent structures. Material losses are estimated at Rp35 million. No injuries or fatalities occurred during the incident.
