Residential fires reported in Suriname and the Netherlands

Two separate residential fires have been reported in Suriname and the Netherlands.

In Suriname, a fire on Madan Jagnarainweg completely destroyed a flat measuring approximately 14 by 12 meters. The structure, built of both wood and stone, was lost along with all household contents. While firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to neighboring homes, the building was entirely consumed. Preliminary information suggests the fire may have started in the kitchen, though the Korps Politie Suriname and the Openbaar Ministerie are investigating the exact cause.

In Delft, Netherlands, an arson incident occurred at a residence on Ravelstraat during the night of August 24-25. The front door was set on fire, trapping two elderly residents inside. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze and rescued the occupants, who were uninjured. Police have designated the area as a crime scene and seized a cola bottle found near the door as potential evidence. The motive for the arson remains unknown.
