Residential structures collapse in Sragen and Jepara due to decay
Two separate incidents of residential structures collapsing due to decay have been reported in Central Java.
In Sumberlawang, Sragen, a 75-year-old woman named Siyem was injured when the rear section of her home collapsed while she was cooking. The collapse, caused by a decayed structure, resulted in minor injuries to her limbs and shock. She received medical treatment at RSUD dr. Soeratno Gemolong and was subsequently discharged for outpatient care. The estimated loss for the property is approximately Rp50 million.
In Kecapi, Jepara, a wooden house owned by Agus Setiawan collapsed completely following strong winds. The structure had suffered from aging and decaying support pillars. While no injuries were reported as the occupants were not inside at the time, the house was rendered uninhabitable. In response, Baznas Jepara provided cash assistance and food packages to the family to help with their immediate needs.
