Residents in Gómez Palacio protest sewage drainage failures
Residents of the Arboleda subdivision in Gómez Palacio are threatening to bring sewage to the municipal presidency due to ongoing drainage failures. For over a month, accumulated wastewater has turned a local public park into a stagnant swamp, creating foul odors and fostering the proliferation of bacteria and mosquitoes.
The overflow has spread to main streets, affecting both pedestrians and vehicles, and has rendered community spaces like the local clubhouse unusable. Affected neighbors report that while Sideapa personnel have performed some maintenance on sewers, the stagnant water remains unremoved, and no resolution date has been provided.
Local residents suggest the issue stems from the Miravalle pumping station being out of service due to missing equipment. They also noted dependencies on municipal collector works, but have yet to receive a commitment for a solution.
