Residents in Lecco and Assisi protest waste buildup and illegal parking

In Lecco, residents of Via Palestro describe their street as a "dump and illegal parking lot," complaining that garbage piles remain uncollected, containers are exposed to weather, and drivers often idle their engines, making the air unbreathable. They also note recent road works have left the street freshly asphalted but without painted markings, and the new traffic flow forces long detours to reach private boxes.

In Assisi, councilor Francesco Fasulo of Forza Italia highlighted a similar problem on Via San Paolo 14, where abandoned waste, bags and cardboard create unsanitary conditions in the historic centre. Fasulo has formally asked the mayor, local police, municipal administration and the waste‑collection firm for urgent cleaning and a longer‑term maintenance plan, pointing to broader deficiencies in the town’s public‑service management.

Both cases illustrate growing concerns over municipal waste handling, illegal parking and insufficient urban upkeep in Italian towns.
