Noise complaints spark local investigations in Marbella and Gerena
Residents in Marbella are renewing complaints regarding noise pollution from musical events held at the Represa de Marbella Park. Despite commitments made by the City Council a year ago following mediation by the Andalusian Ombudsman, locals claim that measures have been insufficient. Residents argue that the 2026 event calendar continues to prioritize festivals, such as the recent Marbepop, over the community's right to rest and health.
In Gerena, Seville, municipal authorities have opened an investigation following a birthday celebration for bullfighter Andrés Roca Rey. Neighbors reported excessive noise and the unauthorized use of fireworks during the event, which lasted until approximately 5:00 a.m. Some residents described the sounds of the fireworks as resembling gunshots. Under local ordinances, the municipality may issue fines ranging from 300 to 6,000 euros for serious noise violations and unauthorized pyrotechnics.
