Residents of Radašinovci, Croatia protest narrow road reconstruction

Hundreds of residents of the village Radašinovci near Benkovac gathered on 27 July 2026 to oppose a county‑approved plan to rebuild the local road at a width of only four metres. The community argues that the road, which carries about 80 000 vehicles daily and serves as the main link to the popular Kamenjak viewpoint at Vransko Lake, is too narrow for safe two‑way traffic. Locals demand a minimum width of five metres and warned they will block construction if the proposal is not changed.

Representatives of the Zadar County Road Administration (ŽUC) and the contractor attended a meeting in the village and indicated they would seek approval for the five‑metre design. Villagers, led by spokesperson Miljenko Bašić, said they will continue peaceful protests and are prepared to halt traffic and works until their safety requirements are met.
