Residents rescue trapped brown bear in Trabzon
Residents in the Çaykara district of Trabzon, Turkey, successfully rescued a brown bear that became trapped between rocks in a stream. The bear, which had descended to the Köknar neighborhood in search of food, is believed to have fallen from a steep slope into the water.
Local citizens, having previously been wary of bear activity in the area, alerted the gendarmerie and the Nature Conservation and National Parks Directorate. After noticing the unconscious animal, residents entered the water and used a tarp to lift and pull the bear to safety.
The bear was handed over to the Nature Conservation and National Parks Branch Directorate for medical examination and treatment. Officials stated that once the animal has recovered, it will be released back into its natural habitat.
