Resilience strategies focus on proactive leadership and operational modeling
At the Risk Summit 2026, Barbara Dede Ama Okai-Tettey, an executive at Stanbic Bank LTD, emphasized that institutional resilience must be built through deliberate leadership and culture rather than just through controls and policies. She argued that true resilience is defined by an organization's ability to think critically and adapt before disruptions—such as geopolitical instability, cyber threats, and climate change—occur.
In a separate academic study from PolyU, research has focused on enhancing operational resilience in logistics and service sectors. The research utilizes distributionally robust optimization (DRO) to model uncertainties. The studies include investigating intercity travel restriction policies during pandemics and analyzing service downgrading strategies used by companies during economic downturns to manage demand uncertainty.
