Resilient indoor plant species for home decoration

Selecting resilient plant species is essential for maintaining indoor greenery without excessive maintenance. According to the United States Botanic Garden, recommended varieties for low-light and low-water environments include Sansevieria, Zamioculcas, Pothos, and Aglaonema.

Sansevieria, also known as snake plant, is noted for its elongated leaves and ability to tolerate infrequent watering. Zamioculcas is recognized for its glossy green leaves and adaptability to indoor spaces with minimal care requirements. Pothos is suggested for shelves and corners due to its hanging stems, and it is also recommended by the University of Florida for low-maintenance indoor use.

Specific care for Sansevieria (Dracaena trifasciata) involves managing water levels carefully. While the plant is highly resistant to dry environments and light changes, excessive watering is its primary threat. To prevent root rot, it is advised to ensure the substrate is dry deep within the pot before watering, rather than following a strict calendar schedule.
